In the first quarter of 2013, the teams of scientists, engineers and others at the Kemper County Energy Facility in Mississippi delivered a few major milestones. In January, the lignite storage dome was erected, providing a safe place to store the lignite. The gas clean-up portion of the plant reached another milestone, with delivered installation of the particulate controlling devices for a cleaner recovery. The captured carbon dioxide will allow two Mississippi Oil companies to practice enhanced oil recovery. This is estimated to increase production of oil in Mississippi by two million barrels. Lastly, the plant’s water reservoir was filled to capacity — 100% of the water used in the plant will come from this reservoir:
